WHITE RIVER EDUCATION FOUNDATION
ABOUT US
In 2006, a group of community members, parents and educational leaders crated the nonprofit White River Education Foundation to help all students in the White River School District achieve their academic potential.
Located in the historic one-time bustling logging and agricultural town of Buckley nestled in the Cascade Foothills at the base of Mount Rainier, the White River School District is geographically the largest school district in the state of Washington. Its boundaries extend from Carbonado to the outer edges of Lake Tapps and from the White River to South Prairie.
Primarily a commuter-community with an economic mix of blue-collar and professionals, there is no one industry that dominates the town's landscape. In fact, the White River School District is one of the town's largest employers.
For the past 16 years, the White River School District, like others in Washington State, have watched their budget shrink as the desire to prepare students to compete and participate in the global society of the future has grown.
The White River Education Foundation's MISSION is to raise dollars to fill the gap between what the state provides for basic education and the money the district needs to prepare ALL students for life beyond high school.
The VISION of the White River Education Foundation is to be the catalyst that creates opportunities, connects with the community, and that supports promising practices that enhance education in the White River School District.
Since its inception, the White River Education Foundation has raised over $580,000.
